Mortal Kombat “Shadows” Trailer Released
The inevitable return of Mortal Kombat is at hand and, for those of you that have been living under a rock for the past few months, it’s closer than you might think! Actually, I still have no idea when it’s going to be released, I just wrote that intro, liked the sound of it and now it’s staying. In fact, the new Mortal Kombat game is slated for release in 2011 and Midway, I mean NetherRealm studios (silly new name) hasn’t committed to much more than that.
This latest Mortal Kombat title takes place in the past. Thunder god Raiden has gone back in history to the setting of the first game in an attempt to usurp Shao Kahn Terminator 2 style. Hopefully this means we will see the return of my favourite level of all time, the Pit from MK1.
So what can we expect from the latest in the MK series? well of course the fatalities have made a reappearance, allowing you once again to hideously dismember your opponent in a number of cruel and ingenious ways that should make the on-line play that much more delicious, providing they get it right. Don’t worry, there’s every chance they will, as they are sitting this game proudly in the mature gaming category. NetherRealm are bosting the most graphic and gruesome fatalities yet, with “the most sophisticated graphics engine in MK history”
A new addition to the game play this time round are the bone snapping, high powered attacks that flick the opponents body momentarily into an x-ray mode, allowing players to see the full extent of internal damage they are causing to their opponents. Other features include a co-op mode, a tag team mode and “the most realistic blood effects ever”
More on the new MK game as it comes out.
