Lord Of The Rings: War In The North
Another in a long line of games that are based in the Lord Of The Rings universe has been announced this week. LotR: War in the North for XBOX, PS3 and PC from Snowblind studios, creators of Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance and the Champions of Norrath games.
War in the North is an action RPG which focuses on the events that took place in “previously unseen lands” not touched upon by the feature films, but mentioned in the original books. Focussing more on team play and small party progression through the storyline and challenge content, War in the north pits up to 3 players against a variety of dungeons, raid encounters and questlines.
Breaking precedence with previous games in the universe, this title is rated M for Mature. A recent press release promised brutal game play and will be the first ever lord of the rings game to receive such a rating from the ESRB.
With a release date set for 2011, the developers look to be potentially competing with Blizzards highly anticipated Diablo 3, which is promising similar in game features and small party play. Maybe snowblinds move to release across all platforms will save them from being buried by Blizzards upcoming epic. Only time will tell.
