Blizzcon 2010 & Diablo III
In celebration of the fact we all got tickets to Blizzcon in one way or another, I’m doing a double feature on Diablo 3 today. This post is centered around the amazing in game screenshots that have been released to the press by Blizzard so far. More are available on the Diablo 3 homepage. I’m very curious to see what surprises lie in store for us this year at Blizzcon, since all their major bombshells and announcements were all dropped last year.
The highlights of last years Blizzcon were:
- The announcement of World of Warcraft Cataclysm
- A look into a fledgling Diablo 3
- A look at Starcraft 2, which had not been released either at that point
A year down the line and where are we? Well, SC2 has been released. Cataclysm hasn’t been released yet, nor has it had an official release date announced and still no sign of a D3 release date other than 2011.
I predict this years Blizzcon will focus on an upcoming Starcraft 2 Expansion, a more in depth look at Diablo 3 and which quarter they intend to release into next year, the announcement of Warcraft 4 (we can always dream) and most importantly of all, Blizzards new MMO, which they are definitely working on but haven’t announced… well anything besides that yet.
This new MMO project is intriguing. I only have space for one MMO in my life and no other company has yet been able to create an experience to rival WoW, a game which is now 5 years old and easily one of the most popular and lucrative games of all time.
Maybe only Blizzard have the power to craft the game that will ultimately become the fabled but highly sought-after “WoW killer”…I’m hoping for World of Starcraft.
